Modern Manhood: The Podcast

This podcast will mostly concentrate on the lives and viewpoints of many different male voices talking about their own masculinity. The biggest problem we have as males is that we don't talk about our own experiences and problems about our own manhood. And that being a man now looks a lot different that it used to be, or that we think it is.

This podcast is supported by NextGenMen (nextgenmen.ca) and the Alberta Podcast Network. You can also find it at modernmanhood.org

So how we balance being a father, a brother, a son, and an ally in the modern world? That's what I want to talk about. If you would like to be on the podcast to talk about masculinity and your experience pls email me at modernmanhoodpodcast@gmail.com

Brendan Kwitkowski, a Ph.D. student out of the University of Edinburgh, and a Canadian teacher out of BC, spent his master’s research time wondering why were 81% of students diagnosed with behavioural disorders male? Why are males 4-7 times more likely to commit suicide?

Those questions (among others) led him towards research that held the socialization of males at least partially responsible for these worrying statistics. So he dug further and did some research with young men.
